I've noticed that quite a few of the cheap Chinese-made kayaks I've seen (particularly the Malibu Mini-X "clones")
have near-identical 8" Hobie Twist & Seal hatches installed. Not sure if the design belongs to Hobie, or just licensed.

Recently I've noticed that the cheap kayaks have been appearing with an improved version of the hatches. The
hatch lid now completely covers the opening, so that when you open it, far less water drains in.

Here's a pic...

Any chance that Hobie might make a similar change to their hatches? Matt?

Cheers,

Mike.

They look good, I noticed that on the Four new Revo's my club bought last week we noticed that all the hatches appear, "Not-Snug", (Twist and Seal handle feeling loose when closing), compared to my early model AI to the point where I am wondering if they are really waterproof?

I agree Skymax. My 2013 Rev 13 hatches both feel loose when closed, and I wonder the same thing. The guys at the store assure me that the rubber seal will keep things dry. Will have to give it a harder workout to find out.
