Has anyone had any experience or opinions on using regular WD-40 vs. WD-40 Silicone on the Mirage Drive. The WD-40 Silicone says it's water resistant and is safe to use on rubber, vinyl or plastic. I realize the fine print on the regular WD-40 says it's safe to use on rubber, vinyl and plastic too, but I'm wondering which one is better for the overall maintenance and life of the Mirage Drive. |

I use BreakFree CLP for the past few years on my Mirage drives. Absolutely no issues. You can find it in the gun cleaning section at Walmart. |

I found WD40 ultimately leaches/washes out into a permanent black film that stains the hull in the drive well area. Even with WD40, over time my drives all end up squeaking which annoys my wife, can be heard by all the neighbors and certainly gives fish a warning that I'm approaching. Currently I'm trying the Boeshield T-9 waterproof lubricant. So far, so good. |
