The best thing I can tell you is to always fish into the wind. Help to stay in one spot. When fishing with the wind at your back you will be pushed sideways and cannot recover fast enought to correct your path and will go past the spot you want to fish and spook the fish. When fishing salt water, you will need to make an extension for the rod holder. The spash from the waves will soak your reels in a hurry. Main idea is to keep the reels above the splash. Some folks make "rocket launcher" and carry four or more rods and reels behind them for quick access. Then some have a milk crate and have tubes attached to the outside of the crate to place the rod handles in. Here is a site with lots of info for someone getting into fishing and the how-to's to rig your yak. Try it and let me know what you think. <http://www.texaskayakfisherman.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=53&sid=cea81da01a9227b93df0e27c795faf77> cut and paste into the web browser. Good Luck and happy fishing. |
