I could deploy my Twist-n-Stow rudder( go down). Worked perfectly coming back up. After a couple of hours with mirror and work light, this is the result.

The up/down lines (cable tubes) run along the starboard side of the yak. It appears that the down cable needs to run outboard of the stbd rod holder tube. The up cable does not seem to be as critical but seems to work better on the inboard side of the stbd rod holder tube. The two lines were twisted, probably from transporting upside down. Once untwisted, the rudder deploys but it is still stiff.

Anyone have suggestions for optimal rudder operation?

Thanks,

Doug

Did you try loosening the rudder drum bolt first?

Second, I would review the manual again.

Third, if it is still an issue that one of the cable housings need to be inboard of the starboard rod holder, cut the up/down spectra line close to where it meets the spectra & control line (where the bungee cord is pig-crimped to it).
You can always loop an extra short piece of spectra to re-attach the spectra to the control line.

Good luck!
