Bought and installed the Hobie Furling kit per the instructions on my 2015 Outback. I can't seem to figure this thing out. I've tried the furling line both directions but both ways the locations of the two knots and balls don't allow the sail to open and close completely. The knots need to go past the fairlead every time, quite frustrating. Appreciate any help. |

Hi Tundah,the trick with the furling kit is to keep tension on the sail with the sheet rope,makes it tighter so it furls properly. Most of the tips and tricks are here viewtopic.php?f=32&t=49713 |

Thanks there is some great info in that thread but I didn't see any discussion on my issue. I have the bungee from the sail to the furler wrapped and snug, I apply appropriate tensions on the main line when furling and the system furls just fine (maybe slightly on the tight side). My issue is, no matter how I initially position the furling line, one of the two knots/balls always has to go past the fairlead...that's the problem. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Mine was the same way. I just removed the knots and balls and grab the rope to furl. That's how I do it on the TI, so no biggie to me. Just have to be sure the knot tying the ends of the line together is in the right place so it doesn't try to go past the fairlead. I usually have to reposition it occasionally while out as there is some slippage between the rope and furler. I also found the sail mast tended to bind or get very stiff in the mast pocket so occasionally coat it with some silicone spray to help make furling a bit easier. |

I had to move one of the balls to the correct side of the knot (thanks forum) when I got the furler and after I did that, I had the same problem. You can move the in line knot back a few inches toward the bungee, that solved my problem. |
