Hello Matt and Hobie owners out there. Has Anyone used Stainless Steel Mesh to repair a recurring crack in front of drive well? This is my first post, so here goes. Today I bought a used 2006 Hobie Mirage Outback SUV without the Mirage Drive for $300. The kayak needs some work but I think I can handle the repairs once I get pointed in the right direction. The 2 issues found were: 1. Needs a new Rudder assembly with string 2. Has a cracked in the front portion of the drive well that looked as if a prior repair was made but did not hold. Question: Can the plastic repair be redone possibly with a stainless steel mesh embedded during the plastic weld process? I figure the stainless mesh will reinforce the plastic where it seems to fail. Any successful experiences out there? |

Mesh is included in new KC Welder kits, so yes. Mesh could work. Urethane Supply has some video on how to do it: http://www.urethanesupply.com/howtorepair.php http://www.urethanesupply.com/kcwelder.php |
