I have to carry it keel down on my trailer. The Malone Micro Sport trailer came with Yakima rack cross beams, and I have angled kayak mounts atop them. Problem is, the kayak doesn't ride nice and level, its always shifting up-left or up-right so its not level on the trailer. Is there a bottom hull form fitting thing I can buy to mount on the trailer somehow, make this thing ride level ? If you look at www . maloneautoracks . com model No. MPG461GU that is exactly what I have. The V shape kayak mounts were way too small, and so were the side resting type. Outback is a large heavy kayak. I have two kayaks, the other is a mirage sport. The sport seems to ride better and stay more level, though not perfect. |

Scrap those crossbars and mount 2 parallel PVC pipes instead. Lots of info online if you google "Hobie PVC" etc. Lower center of gravity and easier loading too. My Malone trailer attached: ![]() Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

One caution on using the PVC pipes. This concentrates the load along the scupper channels. We have seen issues where the floor is being pushed up. Best to spread the loads laterally as we do using the molded cradles shown in the catalog. |

Would love to be able to find some vids on mounting the Hobie cradles. So far I've searched on YouTube under Hobie cradle Saddles Rack Not a whole lot out there demonstrating them that I can find . Maybe Hobie can do a few vids mounting them on different types of trailers. |

Mike, can you specifically describe the best way to carry an outback on a Yakima Rack n Roll trailer? |

Sorry, my question was addressed to Matt Miller. I typed Mike accidentally. So in your infinite wisdom Matt what is the answer? |

When I car topped my 2010 Outback, I used Yakima Mako Aero Saddles http://www.kayakshed.com/product/mako-a ... k-saddles/ They conform to the hull quite nicely and enables you to load the Outback upright...it makes life so much easier ![]() |
