I just purchased a humminbird helix 5 si gps and with no real way to mount it on my outback without hanging off the side I went to the lowrance ready spot. This has been going along quite smoothly and is going to be a inexpensive way to mount your si transducer. So far I've cut the lowrance ready plate to fit the si transducer through using half of the mount that humminbird gives you. Using a piece of 3/16" by 3/4" bar aluminum I cut a 2 1/16" piece and drilled a hole in the center of it. This piece gets bolted to your humminbird mount that holds the transducer and will act as the slide. To mount the aluminum piece you will need a 1" 10 24 stainless bolt with two thin nuts and a thin lock nut. The bottom corners of the mount will need to be trimmed a tiny amount so the mount can slide freely over the mounting brackets on the lowrance ready plate. This is as far as I have gotten today but I plan on adding springs to either side of the aluminum bracket so that tension holds the transducer down, then add a thin piece of spectra rope around the bolt and route it up next to the seat with maybe a little cleat.
