Looks like rudder lines must not have tension when kayak is on storage or not being used. I just bought this 3 weeks ago but I think this has been on dealer storage for 3 months with rudder on tension.
I think Hobie should have learned that all lines that can go under tension must have sacrificial grommets (plastic or stainless made grommets) to avoid making cuts into hull. Enlarge attached pictures to see what I mean.

Nice if these two holes has A grommet similar to these in the attached link

It's not major right now but you'll get a feeling that every time you pull the rudder lines, it's causing a friction between the hull and the line and increasing the cut to the point it could become sharp enough to start affecting the lines.

Does anyone have the same concerns? Or does anyone have same issue?
Hobie engineers, Do you know of a grommet I can drop in these holes? I think it does not have to be glued.

I think you are worrying about a non-issue as my 2013 PA-14 WITH the larger rudder has been deployed and retracted several hundred times over the past three years.
Here is a photo I just made to show the non-wear, of the same location in your PA. You can barely see a "wear line" in the plastic.

Assuming your PA was new, if the dealer had not unwrapped it, the rudder would have most likely have been held up into the hull by the wrapping material too.

I always release the rudder tension and let it hang down while in storage, on my trailer.

Enjoy your new ride!

Thank you Dr for showing a picture. Mine could really be from the dealer sitting under tension for months. Just my opinion, i still believe a sacrificial grommet should be placed in these holes in the next release.
