Post subject: | Transporting 2 hobies |
We just purchased 2 hobies a Tandem oasis and an outback. Any suggestions on how to haul them. Last weekend we tried foam blocks on a flat bed trailer but they rubbed together. We do have a toy hauler we'd like to put them in.... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! |

I transport my Oasis and Adventure on a Volvo wagon on long roof bars fitted with cradles. The boats are transported upright, stern first, side by side and there's enough room for them not to rub. I transport them in this way because I don't have to take everything off them as I would if they were upside down and in fact I fill them full of all my kayaking & fishing bits & pieces (rods reels PDFs masts sails paddles clothing etc etc) and I put the carts and daggerboard under the bungees on the rear trays - nothing has ever fallen out or been stolen (wouldn't leave them unattended though). |

For transporting kayaks on your flatbed trailer, or in the toy hauler, we recommend the kayaks be upside down and securely tied down. This should stop any wobble that caused the kayaks to rub. You may even want to put a foam block in between them to prevent rubbing. We do have a Trailex double trailer (part # 38652200). You'd have to pad the cross bars and transport the kayaks upside down, securely fastened with tie downs. A nice add-on to the double trailer is a tower (part # 38652210), which you can mount an equipment box to. |
