Post subject:  Hobie Pro Angler Trailer Question

Hey All

I just purchased a new Hobie Pro Angler 12' and I am looking for a trailer that I can use for both my pro angler and my 12' Jon Boat. I have a good deal on a basic boat trailer, but I'm not sure it will be ok for a Hobie Pro Angler.

Here is the trailer I am interested in:

The runners can be adjusted closer together to accommodate a narrow Kayak, so I don't see any potential issues. Do you guys and gals think this trailer would work for my new Pro Angler?

The trailer looks fine but the "bunks" are unsuited for the PA's hull shape.
Also consider not inflating the tires to 40+ psi, but more on the order of 15 to 20 psi max, to keep the trailer from bouncing/hopping down the road due to the light load.

Hobie recommends using their supports, but IMHO, the 3" OD PVC parallel pipes work too, at a much lower cost.

The key is not too "cinch down too tight", the PA on the PVC pipes and the PVC has some "slop" in the attachment so they can move and contour to the hull shape.
This is achieved by using fender washers inside the PVC pipes, that you shape, to the inside pipe contour.

I use 1/4 x 20 bolts to secure the PVC pipes and 1/2" diameter holes in the PVC....if you use 1/4 x 20 Nylock nuts, they will not come loose.
