SO I bought a 05 Outback and have been fishing the bays on Long Beach, Huntington Beach, New Port Beach. I talk a fish buddy into and 07 I saw on Ebay.
After 3 month the leak started and it was from the dreaded Drive Well, the drive wore a small hole on the bottom. Seen lot of photos here of the same problem.
Here is a photo of the repair from a local Hobie dealer that did not work.Image
Well I needed to help my fishing buddy out, I told him to buy it...Lesson learned next kayak I AM GOING TO INSPECT MY SELF!
I filled it with water and also found another small crack. Photo of crack at top of scupping hole.

So I started with a repair I saw someone here do the a scupper hole.Image
Then I went to Dana point Jet ski and they help me with the Hobie repair kit for the drive well. Some people think this does not help- but I put a ton of goop and epoxy the heck to of it and I think it did a lot to stop the leak.

I also did what someone else talked about in a repair forum and added a piece of brass to stop the wear on the plastic.

I let everything cure for 24 hours and filled it with water and no leak sitting for 2 hours.
Drained it and took it fish this morning and only had a cup of water in it, but I kayak backwards when fishing and my kayak gets a cup of water in it also.
I think and hope it stays fixed.

Am curious ...did the drive well crack fix last a long time? My 2011 now has a drive well crack (as well as the 4 succeeding Hobie hulls before it), and I was wondering about putting a metal plate on the lip as you had done.
