Greetings! I've recently acquired the abovementioned kayak but really got no documentation to go with it. I can see the specs of the current Outbacks on Hobie's site, but imagine a lot has changed in a dozen years. In addition I can't seem to find an owners manual online. The two major pieces I'm researching is the weight of this kayak (unfortunately no means to weigh it myself) as well as whether or not the current rudders on the market will fix it. Any resources that you can recommend I would appreciate it! Thanks, Mike |

2003 was pre-Twist and Stow rudder...so, you'll need the early rudder parts. Refer to page 58 of our catalog to see early rudder parts. The Kayak & Fishing catalog is downloadable under the Accessories tab on HobieCat.com or HobieFishing.com. Weight should be very similar to what the boat is now: 99 lbs fully rigged, 81 lbs fitted. |

I might have replied too soon! If my rudder pivots up and out of the way (as opposed to staying static) that is a "Twist and Stow" correct? |

The twist and stow rotates up and lays flat on the deck. You have the original system that also raised up, but then out straight aft when up. |
