I have a mirage drive 180 and have already bent (slightly) the mast. Can someone walk me through removing the fin and removing the mast. |

Detach the aft adjuster. Remove the fin. Clamp the mast in a vise and use the drive to leverage the mast straight. |

Thanks Matt. The videos were the kind of information I needed. The mast is straightened. |

Ugh, bent mine today badly. The fin also split some on the seam on the shaft. Thanks for the videos, looks like I'll have to try and make it work until the next time I get off this island to try and get parts. --- kinda shocked it bent so easily |

Why aren't they made of fiberglass rods? Also saw a video suggesting to straighten it using the coupler on the trailer hitch where the locking pin goes |

To straighten masts without a vice I face drive down on ground so sprocket shaft is pointing upwards, pedal pads flat on ground and mast pointing out in front of you. Then either stand or kneel on pedals to hold drive. Slip a length of steel tube, I use an old galv standpipe and lever straight. Be careful not to over correct or bend it on a different axis as the less bending you do the better. When tip to tip dimension=base to base dimension it is done. Usually its just the front mast but double check the rear one before using as a measure. |
