| Post subject: | Trailer for Mirage Oasis - What Do You Have? |
We are looking for trailer options for our Oasis and a future smaller kayak but don't really know anything about trailers. What options do we have? We have a budget of $1100 max. |

Hobie offers a double kayak trailer by Trailex for $1,469. The kayaks would sit on padded crossbars or cradles (not included). This a lightweight trailer option that can be expanded upon, to include a tower/gear box or 4 kayak capacity. |

I have the Hobie/Trailex Double trailer and originally towed 2 Outfitters, now use it with an Oasis and an Outfitter, and hope someday to use it with an AI and the Oasis. Here is the forum topic with pictures and more details. The last post has a newer picture with the Oasis on the trailer alongside an Outfitter. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=52057 Hobie kayaks require more stowage space when towing than most kayaks given the size of the mirage drives and seats added to normal paddles, life jackets, and other gear. When we first started using the trailer we'd throw all the gear in the back of the tow vehicle but this meant extra steps before and after every trip and all that gear took up a lot of space. We added the cargo tower and a cargo box (which you can see in the pictures in the referenced post). This made things much better! The paddles, drives, seats, life jackets, lines, dry bags... all fit in the cargo box and stay there when the trailer is not being used. This makes going kayaking pretty easy - just hook the trailer up and go. I do keep the electronics (Evolve, Fishfinder, Batteries, Marine VHF handheld) in a separate stowage container that does go in the tow vehicle so I can charge everything before a trip. Towing this rig is quite effortless behind my VW Golf or Jeep Rubicon. Peter |
