I have a Revolution 16 and decided to purchase the Mirage Sport for light fishing. I have had a problem with the Sport rudder system since new so I downloaded the Hobie Repair pdf but the Sport does not have the same lever setup. Can't seem to get the rudder to go both directions without binding so it's useless. Does anyone know of a repair doc for the Sport rudder? |

Unless you are 6'8" and played basketball, it will be a contortionist's challenge reaching in the hull to access those mechanisms. Good luck! |

I doubt our assembly crew ever played pro basketball and most are not over 5'8". Start at the rudder and loosen the lines. |

mmiller - that pdf is for the non-sport system. The sport has a different connection lever inside the hull and sting layout. Nope - I'm I'm only 5'10" and never played basketball

Look inside with a mirror and see if your rudder lines are wrapped or fouled on something.

I have looked inside and found nothing wrong. I even took all lines loose and re-adjusted per Hobie pdf - no better. My dealer has worked on it for almost 30 hours and cannot repair either. He said it's time for Hobie to get involved so I sent an email this morning and he will do the same. The district service rep has not been here in over a year so that avenue is out . . . Yes, lever up/down works fine but rudder only has 1/2 usable turning range and the lever has 1/2 range of play.

That is a pretty old version. The adjustments for steering are all done at the rudder as in all current versions. Pretty straight forward. Not much you can do beyond adjustments. If the handle swings and the rudder swings... If it does not steer... it isn't adjusted properly. The up and down function is a matter of adjustment too. We have no service reps... only sales reps. The rest is done by dealers typically. Maybe someone with this older version might add some wisdom? |

Solved the problem today - after dealing with this for months, I took the Mirage Sport back to the dealer and traded it in on the Outback! I am super happy . . .  And a HUGE thank you goes to Hobie for several company managers calling me today to assist with a resolution. This is a company with wonderful customer support! They actually cared that I was happy with my purchase. Thanks Hobie! |

Need to bump this with my issue. The twistnstow lever seems to be very loose. It will not stay down but I don't think it is an adjustment issue. The whole lever will lift 2-3 inches clear of the hull. Almost like there is supposed to be a spring holding it that broke. Of course I can't see or even feel where the lever goes thru the hull. I printed the .pdf and will try an adjustment but the fact that the lever lifts so much makes me wonder if something is wrong. |
