Yesterday I broke the welds on my Trax Cart after 7 years of abuse (I always ridiculously overload it). I had swapped out the wheels on that cart for some hard ones from harbor freight (but kept the soft ones in case I made a beach trip). My question is whether the heavy duty cart is compatible with the soft wheels or if I need to but another trax style cart if I want to maintain the ability to use the soft wheels. A related question is wheterh it possible to just buy the frame for the cart (since I already have wheels)? Thanks for any input/insight. |

The cart has changed and now does not use the locking knob. You can get a frame which has a hole for the newer pin. You just have to remove the locking knobs. |

Thanks for the prompt reply. I did not know that the carts had changed. So if I buy the heavy duty cart it sounds like I should be able to remove the locking knobs on my present soft wheels and be able to swap the soft wheels in if I hit the beach. Is that correct? Thanks! |

Trax and standard / HD carts have different length axles. The Trax is a wider tire. You need the trax frame... but "could" use HD tires on it using some spacers. |

Why not just reweld it? I’ve rewelded my trax cart many times over the years. You can strengthen it by fitting large stainless washers over the uprights and welding them to the top crossbar or make it bulletproof by adding a stainless pipe section to the axle similar to the stainless handrail tees I used here:  More info: https://www.hobie.com/au/en/forums/view ... 3&p=242350 |
