I picked up the new Hobie with reverse drive as soon as it appeared at Key Sailing in Pensacola. Absolutely love it. Ability to back out of cover with fish on. Unfortunately, the strap for the reverse pull cord broke where it screws in the attachment arm. No easy way to back out broken screw in. Will have to pick up new strap and the attachment. Bet its pricey. Looking at design, I am not surprised it broke there, it is definitely a weak spot. Haven't looked up parts yet to make fix, used some Gorilla tape to hold strap to attachment. Disappointing, had kayak less than a year. |

There's a beefed up version of the shifter and tendons - your dealer can get you a set free of charge. I'm guessing that it's a 2017 with the 1/4 threads and not the newer 5/16" style. Also make sure that you're not throwing it into reverse at full speed forward - or keeping your feet spread apart - Very important that your feet are together so the fins are't contacting the hull bottom trying to shift at too high a speed also loads it up too much as well. Talk with your dealer.... its a simple swap. |

This has always impressed me about Hobie. Quick to offer fix where improvement is needed. Got call into my dealer. |

See my thread I just updated here... My reverse broke also, you have to go thru dealer to get parts, they sent me both reverse and forward shift assembly. Repair very quick and easy. |
