We have a 2002 Hobie Mirage.
The drive spine wheel broke so I had a Hobie dealer rebuild it.
Little did I know, and the dealer should of told me, that the new drive won't fit.

Am I now stuck with a drive I can't use?
Is there a modification?

Will fit.

For sure you would have to cut off the alignment pins and possibly shape the fairing a little, but this is all we build now. Older boats need minor tweaks. The alignment pin mod is noted in the drive manuals: https://static.hobiecat.com/item_attachments/80010001_80013011_80013001z52.pdf#page=2

Would doing this mod make it so the drive couldn't be used in a newer hull?
Just curious.

No... it will fit any hull after the modifications.
