I am curious how my linex cap will hold up to the salt water..
Right now we just put paddle boards up there but there is a plan afoot to put the TI up there when we move next.

Does it have to go on the roof? Or would a ladder rack work? Roof -thule or yakima whatever is cheaper on Craigslist Ladder rack - I used on from Lowes (https://m.lowes.com/pd/Werner-Aluminum- ... 1000172283). We have Thule aerobars for our GMC Sierra Denali, (similar to the king ranch f150), that go over the truck bed. I highly recommend putting kayaks over the truck bed and not the roof. We are in salt water a lot, and ruined three Yukon Denalis hauling kayaks on the roof. We travel a lot and have seen many kayaks ripped off, ( roof racks and all) vehicles while out and about. The racks over the bed, or reciever mounted T bars are much stronger and more secure. We don’t use any pads or wings, they all dent the hull. Plus we ripped off several pads and wings in parking garages, (without kayaks on board). Most hobies have 2 grooves running the length of the boat on the underside on 11” centers. We simply put the boat on either the factory racks, or our Thule bed racks, then slide two 1.5” dia wood closet poles about 8 ft long under the boat, ( in the grooves) then strap everything down with ratchet straps securely. We also always ha bow and stern V ropes. Just tryin to help FE |

I have a GMC truck with a tonneau cover that I don't want to remove everytime I load the kayaks. The tonneau covers my stake holes on the bed so I couldn't get a regular roof rack. I can load two mirages in the bed and don't need to lift them over the cab. |
