Hi all, I offered to help a friend repair his Mirage Kayak. The steering cable is broken at the rudder (both ends are still visible) and he needs some other parts. My problem is that this Mirage just says "Mirage" on it. I can't find any model that matches it - I'm assuming that it's an older model that may have been put out of production (?). Anyway, it is 12' 6" long (hull length). has a storage with the lid behind the seat and two hatches. I need to find the cable kit and the mechanism that secures the peddles (or the plug) - 2 X 3/8 threaded fem. Anyone with information that could steer me the right direction would be greatly appreciated. >>>--->vwhead77 |

Thank you. I did manage to 'rig' the rudder cable using blue 'weed-whacker' line - seems to be holding up pretty good. Anyway, thank you for parts number for drive hardware. I will see if I can get my hands on those. Thanks again!! |

We have a really old one too and are very much struggling to find replacement parts! Specifically an uptown handle rudder. We searched for the model number as everyone suggests online and there just isn’t anything anywhere with any numbers on the bottom of the boat. |

I have an old mirage with the same issue, broken up/down and steering handles which are impossible to find. I think the reason Hobie changed the handle system is because the plastic just couldn't handle the stress from the set screw and would tend to crack, so even if you got a replacement plastic handle it would eventually suffer the same fate. I've ordered a couple of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/186438838697 and I'm hoping that I can fabricate new handles with a little bit of work, I'll let you know how it goes. |

Thanks for the tip! We are going to give that one a try! ant wrote: I have an old mirage with the same issue, broken up/down and steering handles which are impossible to find.

Does anyone have the old PDF with all the parts for the oldest model Mirage by any chance? It's gone from the internet, this year. |
