Post subject:  Trolling Motor on Hobie Kayak Steering Question

For anyone that has put a trolling motor on their Hobie kayak in the mirage drive well, can you steer the kayak well enough with just the trolling motor (without using the rudder steering)?

I want to put a 36" Minn Kota trolling motor through my Compass mirage drive well and use it while standing up, but I'm not sure if the steering will be good enough to make sharp turns. (I fish a lot of docks that are close together)

Just saw this. I have no personal experience with this but based on what I have seen in videos I would say definitely not. I believe you will need to use your rudder if you want the steering to work like it should. The trolling motor would turn it some I don't think it would come close to comparing how it turns with the rudder.
