Post subject: | Aka kit installation - front or back? |
Hi! I have read previous comments on this topic, but haven't managed to find anything decisive. It seems that the standard way to install the ama kit on a hobie is on the back of the kayak. However, at least one forum member recommended installation on the front, as it allowed for paddling. Any recommendations? Is it impossible to paddle if the ama kit is installed on the back? Thank you for your feedback! |

Based on the videos I've watched it's really hard to paddle with the SideKick Ama Kit behind the seat. Almost impossible to get a full paddle stroke. For me with it in the front portion of the kayak it would get in the way of fishing. For these reasons I won't buy this kit (or a Revo 13 as I would need the stabilizers for added stability). |

For "splash" reasons you would want them behind you. If you`re in the mood to paddle just remove the outer tubes and place them under the bungies. You can mod the sidekicks with a "hinge" if you want. https://imgur.com/nDbc20J |

Wouldn't taking them off negate the reason for having them in the first place? |

Only when you paddle, besides you can`t tip over with a paddle in your hands. |

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll probably install it on the back, to avoid the splash. |
