Post subject:  Finding Hobie Parts

I just received a new Hobie Torquedo Throttle unit. it came, like most hobie stuff :( , with nothing but a cable. No mounting instructions, nada. The mounting plate on the bottom looks to be 1 7/8s centers for the screws which look to be 1/8 20s. I've been unable to find a mounting plate on the hobie site nor anywhere else for that matter. YakAttack has a mounting plate but that won't fit the H rails on my yak. All help appreciated. Fishin Bob

It would be assumed that this is a replacement part right? Did you lose the old one?

When the evolve kits are made, the factory assembles the parts and modifies parts to work together. When we sell a part like a throttle... it comes as-is from Torqeedo.

The evolve kit's Bill of Materials lists RAM mount 72023020 (their RAP-B-102-238BU)

Hi Matt. Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, this is a replacement part. I just bought the PA 14 and it needs some TLC. Everything I've looked at shows the mounting bracket for the YakAttack rail. I'm looking for an H rail mounting kit. I can't understand why Hobie wouldn't have one splashed all over their parts page. In particular, I need either an H rail mount with ball (preferred) or an H rail mount with variable flat plate that I could attach to the side plate on the YakAttack mount. RAM (RAM mount 72023020)does not make a ball mount to fit the H Rail.. Also, because of the location of the H rail, there is no convenient place to mount the flat bottom mounting base. My plan now it to mount a ram 1.5 ball directly to the bottom of the controller to the hobie H rail ball, using an extender. It looks a little funky but it's functional.

Ball mount on the H-Rail is on page 28. Comes in 1 or 1 1/2 inch ball.

For a sturdier and lower height installation, I bolted the throttle control to a Hobie H-Rail “Universal Mounting Plate”.
