Post subject: | Mirage drive 180 pedal spring is broken |
The spring action that holds the right pedal in the proper position on my 180 drive is broken. I am not sure what performs this function in the pedal. Is this a reparable issue? If so what would I need to order to fix this? Do I need a new pedal or just some kind of a spring? I will look at it tonight but was hoping for a heads up before taking the pedal off. To clarify, I mean that the pedal just rotates freely and does not rotate and hold place when I take my foot off of the pedal. Thanks in advance. |

There is a bungee cord inside the pedal. Peel off the pedal pad to expose screws that will give you access to inside the pedal. The bungee goes through a hole in the pedal shaft. You should be able to re-use the pad, but if the glue is bad, you can use contact cement to reapply it to the pedal. |

Thanks for the quick reply Matt! I was hoping it was something simple like you described. |

I completed the fix (my bungee had broken). The hardest part was finding 1/4" shock chord (bungee). I tried a bunch of craft stores but eventually I found the perfect chord at REI. Just an FYI in case this happens to you. Also, as Matt stated I was able to simply re-stick the pedal cover back on (it still had enough stickiness). Thanks again Matt! |
