I just sold my pro 12 and purchased a Revo 13 and love it.
I transport it in my F150 with the gate down.
Naturally it hanged out quite a bit. I only travel 20 minute to the river.
Anyone see and problems?

So I am not sure what your local laws are so my comments are not considering that aspect.

I don't know how long your bed is so I'll throw out this for thought. If you have the 5.5' bed on your truck the tailgate adds another roughly 2'. That gives you about 7.5 feet of bed that supports your 13.5 foot long kayak. With 6' hanging off the back unsupported this to me would be concerning and by no means in the best interest of your kayak. You can buy bed extenders for as low as $65 (Harbor Freight). Add a pool noodle or some other type of cushion to the bed extended as a cushion so your kayak isn't strapped down to the metal bar on the bed extender and your good.

Thanks, I'll look into that

I have been using a pickup truck to haul plastic boats for about 26 years. A Coleman crawdad in a Nissan King cab (11' boat with a 6' bed + tail gate). I did that for about 15 years. Eventually I got a toyota tundra double cab with a 6.5' bed. In that truck, almost the entire flat part of the bottom was supported. (I still have that boat and use it some times). None of that seems to have hurt that hull in the least.

I got an Outback in 2011 and newer one in 2019. I tote both of those in the bed of the Tundra and I have not seen any ill effects from doing so. That said those kayaks are 1 to .5' shorter than a Revo and my bed+tailgate length is probably 1' longer which helps me.

As for legality, I know in Oregon the law is that max overhang past the rear axis is 3/4 the wheelbase. For my Toyota tundra (2004 with 6.5' bed) that ends up being 13' from the front of the bed. If you angle the kayak you could probably have something that is 13.5'. Every state is going to be different though so I would check your local laws.

A bed extender (as suggested above) is certainly only going to help. I had thought about getting one but I just did not like the idea of that thing sticking out while I was parked when fishing.

Best of luck!
