Is the Hobie Sailing Rudder Blade much more responsive at low speed than the stock Revolution rudder? I have a Prowler 13 with a KFS rudder on it. It works well when just drifting or at extremely slow speed. I wonder if the Hobie Sailing Rudder Blade will give me close to the same usefulness on my new Revo? If any one has any experience with the 2 rudders on the Revolution please speak up! |

Yes. Simple answer. More blade and better response at slower speeds. |

With the sailing rudder, if you're moving at all, you'll have steerage way. Whether drifting with a breeze or just coasting along, the large rudder will point you easily. For the price ($23 ?) it's the single best value on the option list. I think you'll be very pleased with it. The only downside is that it's twice the weight as the standard rudder and requires a wiggling action to raise and lower. Once learned, it's easy to handle with the Twist & Stow lift mechanism. |
