Hi all. Anyone with knowledge regarding kayaks out there? Would appreciate some advice. Looking for something to take 2 adults and child in. Initially for the beach and once courage plucked then pottering around coastal coves and beaches.

A quick look online and haven’t really got a clue but like the look of the ones that offer some back support also what equipment, clothing, etc best to be used.

Thanks in advance

If you have one child and a couple of adults, you could consider purchasing a separate solo ‘yak. Best to have an adult in that solo kayak, especially if you have younger kids. Always make sure you have your little ones within arms reach. And ensure you set some good, common sense ground rules before you set off (no standing or leaning etc). It goes without saying that safety should always come first!

If you have 2 or more kids, then mix and match the kayaks. And as we said previously, make sure the younger kids are not paddling solo.

Welcome to the forum Bobby!

There aren't a lot of options out there for a 3 person kayak and none that I am aware of that are peddle kayaks. If you wanted to look at a Pro Angler 17T you could possible have the kiddo sit on the front hatch facing the kayak but that won't be comfortable for the kiddo.

Best bet is to get a tandem kayak then a separate one person kayak. Honestly having 2 kayaks side by side is better than all being in one kayak looking at the back of the other persons head IMO.

Hobie makes a Compass duo and also a Mirage Oasis that are both great tandem peddle kayaks. The Oasis has a better seat IMO.

Are you going to just be cruising in these kayaks or fishing?
