Just wondering how people generally transport their paddles when travelling to their launch spots? I previously had mine in the boot (trunk for the Americans) in my old car, and it really scuffed up the interior plastics as it was slightly too long to fit flat and combined with my cart was moving around a lot. As the car was old, I wasn't too worried, but I've now purchased a brand new car and want to avoid causing the same issue. Does anyone use one of those Thule multi purpose carriers on their roof racks? They seem really expensive for what they are, and if there is a smarter/cheaper alternative I'd love to know. Leave it attached to the paddle holder on the boat? Or a couple of short line or shock cords would tie the paddle to the roof rack. |

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was common practice or safe to keep the paddle in the holder on the kayak. I think that's what I'll do from now on, just need to make sure my straps are in the correct place I guess. |

If you attach your paddle to the side of your kayak with the paddle holder while transporting your kayak, the paddle may catch wind and get ripped out of the paddle holder. It would be better to transport the paddle inside your vehicle. |

Even with the tie down straps over the paddle? I'd think the combination of the elastic and the straps should hold it in place? |
