Does anyone know the length and width of the original Hobie Mirage kayak? I had the pleasure of using one a number of years ago. I really loved it and I'm looking at a Revolution 13 right now. I'm just trying to compare the experience from back then to todays models. Is the Revolution 13 substantially narrower than the original? Which current model most closely resembled the original?
Thanks!
JP

From our website back then...

Length: 12’ 6”
Width: 2’ 6”
Draft: Sails up 6” / Sails down 18”
Weight: 55 lbs. without Hydro-Sail (Hydro-Sail 8 lbs.)

Not even the MirageDrive yet!

Matt,
Thank you for the quick reply and info!
So it looks like it was a little beamier than the Revolution 13 and a bit shorter. Im really looking forward to taking a test paddle (hmm. not really a paddle) out on the Revolution 13 to see how it compares with my memory of the original Mirage. That experience was a blast!

The Mirage Classic was a great little boat, nimble and quick in smooth water. It tended to suffer in chop due to its "sponsons" (flared sides). The current Revolution 11 is closest in nimbleness and weight, with improved upwind and chop performance. Like the original Mirage, it really outperforms its small size. 8)
