Please - someone, help me. Do you fold your kayaks? How? Is it OK to leave them in the bag? THANKS

This is the 2008 version of the I-9. Your seat may differ. Fold the corners in, offset as shown.

Fold again. Note position of drivewell.

Set the bag on the folded package.

Pull the corners down over the kayak.

Flip the package; bag is now on bottom.

finish pulling the bag over the folded boat.

Add accessories.

Cinch up the bag and you're done.

IMO, short term storage in the bag is fine; for longer term,I would store unfolded if space permits. 8)

If I store it unfolded, can it be stored deflated? Thanks

One last question - it came with turbo fins and they seem pretty flexible/soft as they have been well used. Should I get a newer pair for sailing or can I just use these until they break? THANK YOU!!

You don't want to stress the seams. I would inflate, but not to full pressure.

Those fins were designed to be flexible. Just use them as long as they function well. If they're warped and not working well as a bilgeboard, then you might replace them. On the other hand, sailing the I-9 is not exactly a high performance sport, so new ones will probably not make much difference. BTW, you can pedal leisurely while sailing, get a nice speed bump and the fins will still work well as a bilgeboard. Make sure you have a large (sailing) rudder for better helm control. You can also rake the mast forward a little bit to help balance a weather helm (tendency to turn into the wind). It's a fun sailer! Enjoy! 8)
