I have been using Fluid Film on my 5 year old drive for a few months now. My squeaky bearings are just about silent. I’m sure it’s fine on the chains too. ~JOE~

Isn't "fluid film" potentially destructive to rubber (=fins?) and a dust magnet which can bring abrasive destruction to chains over time? Hobie now sells some kind of drive lube. Before that there were extensive experimental tests posted here for various types of lube, probably still findable here if you scroll a decade back. I believe they found one of the top contenders was wd40, precisely because it is one of the weakest possible lubes. It is primarily a solvent that cleans and vanishes so as to not attract dust. There is a trace of lube in it that lasts until your next (frequent) application. This oppositeness is common to many issues in my life - surface priorities being backwards to deep priorities, so that the best is the worst and the worst is the best. I don't like this habit of using brand names rather than properties like viscosity, etc. Anyway I had great 5 year results with a wd40 clone with super low viscosity and high evaporability that was marketed for some other obscure application. There have been some silicone advocates, but many such products come with a petroleum solvent with their usual problems.
