Hi, I want to get in shape for a long Kayak trip this summer. I know going out in the kayak is probably the best thing to do but what exercise equipment could I get for my home to get prepared? Thanks so much, Brenda |

Hi, I will be Pedaling. I was so tired I thought I might have put the wrong thing so I posted now just in case. Thanks, Brenda |

I have bad knees so pretty aware what muscles I am feeling when exercising. I don't think mirage drive really compares to any exercise equipment - not bicycle like to me. Maybe shorter stairs are the closest? I was in horrible shape when I started going out and was sure I would feel it the next day, but always felt great the next day. I could feel it in my muscles while on the water after pedaling for a bit, but never uncomfortably so. I think any cardio (even walking) would get you as prepared as you need to be, but haven't been out with constant pedaling much more than an hour. Have fun! |

I have been a Hobie owner since 2009 and have exercised using a stationary Exercycle for more than 30 years. In 2017 I decided to switch from a vertical sit on Exercycle to a recumbent Schwinn model 270. I have found that this model is the closest to mimic my PA-14 in exercising and build endurance. I normally exercise 5 days a week for 36 minutes and burn about 240 calories, covering 10.2 miles...average 17 MPH as an aerobic exercise.....age almost 80 and this keeps me in shape to down rig troll for large German Browns or whatever else lurks below a depth of 25' to 105'. I normally cover on average 6 miles in 3.5 hours and only take one quick pee break. I highly recommend the recumbent to keep you in good shape, builds endurance and it won't kill your knees....or at least not my knees. |
