I used the Hobie fish finder kit to power my hook 2 reveal 5 inch. I now have an elite 9 and am wondering if the wire gauge is thick enough to use with my new fish finder. Thoughts or experiences please as I don’t want an electrical fire on my kayak. I do not have live sonar. Thanks |

The Hook 2 is pretty inefficient drawing maybe 0.9A versus just under 1.0A for the much larger Elite 9. So they are pretty close in current draw. The Hobie Fishfinder Kit wiring is at least 20 AWG which is good for over 5A. It may actually be larger 18 AWG. Either way, plenty of margin. Peter |

Thanks. I am really confused by the Lowrance website that says the minimum,maximum and typical power consumption is 2 amps. Don’t know how all three numbers can be the same. This seemed pretty high draw to me |

You have the Elite FS 9, not the Elite 9 Ti2? If so, that is 2A max current draw, not 1A. Your wiring is still okay. But make sure you have a 3A fuse. This does affect battery size calculation from your other thread. Peter |
