I'm wondering what techniques other people have tried for plugging old screw holes in kayak hulls. I have an Outback that I removed some hardware from and I've used silicone caulk in the past but without a backing it doesn't always hold well and doesn't look great. Has anybody tried plastic welding rods or anything else with better success?

One really simple way to contend with small holes is to simply put a bolt or self tapper into it, with a little bit of silicone for good measure. It may just end up looking like its supposed to be there anyway, and doing this isn;t just easier than welding, its usually tidier as well. If you can get away with it, this is a pretty simple workaround
