New Revolution13 turns right when steering handle turned left, and vice versa. Is that by design or was it installed backwards?

Dealer is far away so wont go there until I am passing by someday. Meanwhile, how would a DIY be done to reverse the control lines?

I don't own a Revo 13 but I wonder if the lines are switched inside the hull?
Have you opened up the rear inspection cover and looked inside at the spectra line routing to the aft of the hull?

I would thing you can unhook the spectra lines from the rudder, withdraw them inside the hull, cross them and re-feed out of the hull, then
re-terminate the lines to the rudder.

This link is the only thing I can find that is close to solving your problem.....see sheets 5 & 6. https://media.hobie.com/digital_assets/ ... iagram.pdf

The second link is for the earlier Hobie rudder system and it does have a rudder line diagram that show the lines crossing internally.

I can't imagine there is a major difference between the internals of the kayak and both have a single rudder control.

I got email from Hobie (who must have read this post) confirming steering on my kayak is backwards (just my luck). It is brand new so I will just go to dealer to resolve. I tested everything at dealer (not on water) including rudder lines worked but did not notice the backwards steering until later during maiden voyage the water. I am glad it is not a new design for steering.

If I did not already own a 2 other Hobies then I might not have noticed and just assumed thats how steering worked like a tiller on a boat.

Hobie must have a real glitch in their manufacturing of the Revolutions 13. Both my neighbor and I purchased one. They BOTH has the rudder lines installed wrong. The Revolution 11 we got at the same time had them installed correctly. All 3 from the same dealer.

It wasn’t easy but did manage to get the lines swapped. Now it operates as specified.
