Hi all. I just purchased a new Oasis kayak and am looking forward to getting out on the water with it. I have a couple of questions that I would appreciate any feedback on. 1. Coolers - my dealer did not have any of the hobie coolers in stock. Do any of the coolers fit nicely on this model, or does anyone have a recommended cooler that would work well? I like the. On let of the hobie coolers in that they are short in height. 2. Anchor - I only need an anchor for shallow waters. I am thinking of just attaching a cleat to the front of the kayak and buying a small anchor in a bag. Any other suggestions? 3. Kayaarms - does anyone have any feedback on the use of the “kayaarms” for “on water storage”? 4. Any recommended accessories I should consider? I’d appreciate any feedback. I will plan to provide a review of the Oasis from a novice perspective after I get it out a few times. Steve |

Welcome to the forums and the Oasis, Steve! The Oasis is an incredible kayak. We have maybe 1,500 to 2,000 miles on ours in all types of water (ocean, bay, bayou, river, lake, canal) and conditions. Here are some of my mods: - Hobie (Torqeedo) eVolve electric motor on rudder with 915wh battery in bow - Garmin chartplotter with transducer mounted inside hull - Hobie H-Rail to mount chartplotter and motor controller - Electric bilge pump - Battery mount in aft hatch (for chartplotter and bilge pump) - Hobie sail kit and furler - Hobie sidekick amas - Paddle clips instead of bungies - Marine compass mounted on center hatch - Probably more I have forgotten Look through my posts on this forum to learn more. Coolers: I picked up 2 matching cheap red coolers at Walmart, soft side with hard plastic liners. They stack inside each other for storage. I usually put the small "6-pack" cooler in the bow storage with sandwiches and snacks and the medium cooler bungied on the stern with drinks and other cold stuff. Have been using these for 7 years now. Anchor: I don't use it often but carry the bagged claw anchor. I sit in the back so tie it off the stern using the snapbuckle on the shackle mount for the sail. Kayyarms: Don't know anything about these. Cheers, Peter |
