| Post subject: | 2016 Mirage Oasis - Foam blocks |
Hello all, I am new to Hobie and this forum. I recently picked up a used (2016) Mirage Oasis, and I am going through it making sure everything is good to go. I have looked to see if there was a specific forum centered around other Oasis models but didn’t, I see anything. I have some general questions, and I am looking for some guidance. Theres two foam blocks that move freely in the hull. I have read a few different posts depending on the model of where these should be located. I would like to know the following: 1. Where would they be located? 2. Should they be zip tide to supper or is there a different method that was used in 2016. 3. Is two the right amount or should I have additional? If I need more than the two are there any spares out there or is there a comparable product you can purchase online. Thanks |

I have a 2016 Oasis. It came new with 2 foam blocks. Positioning is not critical but the shape allows them to be wedged between scuppers and hull. Just make sure they don't restrict or interfere with any of the control lines. If you were to suffer a significant crack in the hull and took on water, they are inadequate given accessories and 2 people hanging onto the sides. It won't sink but there is also no excess flotation. I added a Hobie 8" dry bag with air in it shoved inside the middle hatch and to one the side. The canoe and kayak inflatable floats have too thin material and will puncture. I have several thousand miles on my Oasis with many mods to it. Search this forum for my previous posts and ask any questions. Peter |
