I have two Hobie Outbacks and my Dad has a Sport. I noticed the Classic just has one hole under the seat and no scupper plug. When you are riding in the boat your butt gets wet?!?! Is this normal, or is there supposed to be a scupper plug for it? The Outbacks and Sports have screw plugs... So what gives? And if there is no screw or scupper plug that comes with the boat what options are there out there to keep a persons butt dry? THANKS!!! |

The screw plugs get your butt wet anyway dont they? Unless you set up the clear tape venturi sorta thing thats posted on here elsewhere, Im pretty sure they are below the waterline? |

Nope in the Outback and Sport my butt rarely gets wet and when it does its from waves coming in from the outside rather than up through the scupper hole. The screw plug I believe has a little washer on it? Regardless when it is down it does not allow any water in or out. So once you have water in it won't go out, and vice versa... The Classic doesn't seem to have a screw or scupper plug, or at least the one I am talking about. Trying to figure out what to do to keep a butt dry! LOL Hoping to get this issue resolved as we have a trip planned for the north country this next week. THANKS AGAIN for any suggestions or help.. MMiller any ideas??? |

Vlaude, the screw-in scupper plugs are a relatively recent innovation with Hobie. The Classic never got one and even our "08 Oasis uses the single hole (no plug) that it's always had. In both boats your seat is above the water line and the bottom of your seat acts as a baffle in case of a brief incursion. It seems to work fine that way. There has been a tendency to lower the seating position with the newer models, thus requiring the use of the plugs.

RR, So Im correct in assumeing that unless I want to paddle in a puddle, keep those plugs in on my Revo? I peddle in a puddle anyway if I do surf work, but I saw a post with clear tape over the front of the holes and then mention that with forward motion the venturi effect would suck most of it out? |
