I have one of those and, it has been dropped several times, and has gotten really wet, but never under water yet. I just carry mine in my vest pocket, and do not worry if it gets wet or not. ![]() |

Sounds interesting and could be useful in an emergency. I would still use it in a waterproof bag though, tethered to my PFD, "just in case". First thing I would do is take it for a spin -- immerse it and bang it around a bit while under water. See if it lives up to what's claimed. Come to think of it, I should test by bag too for any leaks. |

Waterproof case for your phone http://www.waterproofcases.net/waterproof-cell-phone-cases.html Better yet, leave it at home. It might ring and scare the fish. |

I do take a handheld VHF with me. The waterproof cellphone is so I can call my wife if my float plan changes etc. |

Agreed, dialing 911 is hit or miss depending on which cell towers are in range. But iff you store a variety of police depatments' numbers into your cell phone, and if you know where you are when you need help, you can call the right one depending on whose jurisdication you might be in at the time. |

I use a dry bag and a cheap blue tooth headset protect the fone don't worry about the headset typically don't go out on the water without both a fone & a VHF probably always a little over prepared. |
