Post subject:  T2 Capacity: Question for Matt

Hi Matt, a question about the T2:

I have 2 Waves and 3 Bravos at my center, and they work very well for what they are designed to do. I'm considering getting another boat and am looking at the 16, Getaway, and T2 (among others).

The T2 is listed with a "capacity" of 240 kg, compared to 362kg for the Wave and 453kg for the Getaway. I think in one of your posts you wrote that the T2 has more volume for carrying crew than the Wave.

Is that 240kg spec right? Seems a bit odd that the T2 capacity is nearly 300lbs less than the Wave and nearly 500lbs less than the Getaway.

Thanks,

Matt-0 in Viet Nam

Yeah, doesn't make a lot of sense looking at the specs, but I guess that France set the number for capacity on the T2. There are strict guidelines in Europe for number of crew and weight capacity that were not used to determine the Wave and Getaway years ago in the US.

The hulls are larger than the Wave, so actual buoyancy is higher on the T2.

That sure makes it difficult when shopping the Wave, T2, and Getaway. H16's listed capacity is downright funny.

Can the T-2 be sailed easily one up, and use the big spin sail without too much issue? I can't find any pics of the boat with the spin up and if anyone is sailing it sans crew.
