Man, I have scoured the Internet. I cannot find specs about these wings at all. I too, would like to build a set, but I can not find any sources detailing how to do this. I know that if custom wings are on, I will not be able to get a standard rating which will affect the rating, but I do not care. I love this boat! I love the ones with wings much better. Pics, please!!! |

Building a set of wings properly as a one off will be very pricey. The specs you need are not going to be public. You will need specific hardware to attach them and you will have to construct to exact dimensions or your tramps will be custom as well. No manufacturer is going to give their design and r/d away so someone can produce the same product they offer. Hobie still sells the wings and I'm quite certain you can't build your own for that price. Even if you could who would do the testing, even Hobies wings fail every now and then. If your homemade wing breaks and dumps you off what damage will be done to your boat? ITS NOT WORTH IT, BUY A SET, USED OR NEW! |

6800100 - Hobie 18SX Wing Trap w/o Trampolines.... NLA. And I believe some the the major components are also NLA. You might find a dealer with a NOS wing set, but that dealer is not us. Used may be the only option. |

Well, I got a set. Delivered from DesMoines to Kalamazoo, Michigan in the snow and rain on Saturday night. I would not have known about their availability without this site (see above posts). Jim from Jims Sailing Center in Des Moines was also very helpful as was xanderwess for telling me they were available. Uship.com was a fast and very reasonable way to get these rather large items across the country. It is going to be a L-O-N-G winter. I dont plan on installing them until the spring, so if any of you want info on them, PM me. |

I'm curious about what you paid for them. I almost never use my wings and might consider selling them if the price is right. Let us in on it, how much? |

The wings were $450. The shipping from Des Moines was $175. I suppose I could have gotten it cheaper on www.uship.com, but I wanted to make sure I did not let the set go, so I booked shipping as soon as I got it The fun I will have next season will be priceless! DJ and dale: I am in the Kalamazoo area. Where are you located? |

Located in Zeeland, boat in Muskegon, brother in Schoolcraft so I get down that way on occasion. Are you planning on racing at Austin Lake D-10 regatta in 2009? I'll remove my wings for that regatta. |

$450 is quite a deal for some Magnum wings. I suspected $700-$800 was the price. I'm guessing the tramps were included and new they are $180 aftermarket if I remember correctly. I will be hanging on to my wings a while longer, the spouse really likes them! |

The Wings came wi th all mounting hardware as well as an original set of retrofitting instructions. The tramps are functional, although I will be replacing them. Let Jim from Jims Sailing Center in DesMoines know if you are interested and maybe he can keep an eye out. He did an awesome job preparing them for shipment. He also sells kayaks, so there is an abundance of industrial bubble wrap. "PM" means send me a personal message. If you rather, e-mail me at mike.macqueen @ gmail *dot* com |
