Looking to buy a Hobie, maybe a H16, saw this one on craigslist for $1000 w/trailer, looks in great shape. Only problem is, I will be sailing 2 up. would a H16 be better for two or one sailing? I use to own a 14Turbo in my younger years. Looks Huge. |

I single-hand my 18 at all the races inland in nor cal but I wont do any of the ocean races without 1 crew member. Its a great economical boat that has descent tuneability. Two is perfect for the 18 and you need 320lb to rite her anyway unless you have a riting bucket.Check the hulls very carefully for soft spots around and between the crossbars.Otherwise if you found a good deal ,jump on it,the 18 fleet seems to be rejuvinating itself a little bit lately. You didn't say where you were, but there's a nice H 16 on CL Sacramento right now for $575, a Prindle 18 that went for $600 recently and an H18 that pops up frequently in this area for $1100. An H16 for $1000 better be cherry. |

I could right the 18 at 265 by myself. |
