I remember the duo back in the 80's that crossed the Atlantic on a Hobie 18 Magnum. Never heard of anybody crossing the Pacific though......1st time for everything! Seriously, I would place as many "wanted to buy" adds in as many forums and/or Hawaiian publications that you can and you may stumble across somebody with an 18 that they are willing to sell but have never taken the step to post it for sale.

Seems like I remember a story about a guy that left CA headed for Hawaii on a Hobie 20, but he was never seen or heard from again.

1. If you're on Oahu go to Kaneohe and put notes on the 18's you see on the beach asking if they want to sell.
2. Make friends with Hobie dealers on the mainland to keep an eye out for you. Shipping costs $$, but. . .
3. Post here.

You can't have mine.

Yes, and a fine boat it is, but the way he asked his question I got the impression he was looking for a boat already in the Islands.
Besides, I'd much rather see someone buy it and race it here..... fleet building, don't ya know !

Thanks for asking Skip ! :D
