In the process of getting a 1991 H18 Formula.

Are there any known issues with boats from that year? Wings, mounting brackets, delam, etc.

Anything specific I should plan to replace or look at over the winter?

Thanks.

Pardon my ignorance, but I have never heard of a Hobie 18 Formula here in the USA.

It seems like I have heard of a H-18 formula in europe, but I'm not sure what the difference might be between a European H-18 Formula and any of the Hobie USA 18's. Maybe Matt Miller can weigh in and enlghten all of us.

Could you be referring to a SX ?
What area of the country do you call home.

The SX has no issues that are unique other than a lack of a class to race in.
If one design racing isn't your thing, no big deal.

See the H18 FAQ for a detailed description of the different styles / names.

Stephen, don't you remember the Hobie experiment with the powder coated aluminum? They ended up using white on the "Formula" boats, but there are photos in the Hotline of blue and red as well. They had the funky sail patterns with windows as artistic elements.

Great concept, but the powder coating chipped easily and was heavy.
