Post subject:  Hobie 18 SX Main Sheet length

Does anyone know what length a (Hobie 18 SX with wings) main sheet should be. I just bought a SX rig and have the stock SE main sheet. I'm also thinking about downsizing to 3/8", is that a good idea?

Hi Kenny,

The factory line diameter and length for the main sheet is 48' of 7/16 spun braid. This is according to the specifications found on the NAHCA website www.nahca.org (which redirects you to www.hcs-na.org). Click on Resources (across the top menu bar), then Technical Information...then select your boat. You will then see a link to Line Lengths.

I am sure others would have recommendations for other diameters depending upon whether you have upgraded the blocks on the boat.

I hope that helps!

Line lengths are also included in the parts guides. There will be a part number and spec note for most evey line listed near its likely use area on each boat.
