The sailing program run by Dawn Riley of America True just acquired a "free" Hobie 18 that they'll be using to take out the youth of Hunter's Point in SF. The stuff like rigging and lines we've got covered. The hulls are good, but it needs a few bits. Whose got something for these guys?

Here's what we're looking for:
Trailer
Main Sail
Jib Sail
Boom, with all hardware
Mainsheet Assy (blocks, line, etc…)
Jibsheet Cars
Stern Plugs
Tiller Extension
Wing Tramps
Pins for Wings (1/4" x 2" ??)
Rudder Cam Kits
"Aussie" Halyard Ring
Main Halyard Assy
Chafe Protectors (on shrouds)
Shrouds
Forestay
Shock Cords for Dagger Boards (size unknown)
Jib Furler re-build kit
Jib Furling line (1/12" x 19' ?)
Righting Line (3/8" x 22' ?)

Thanks for anything you can do!

I've got the stock block set, the sheet is pretty thick but servicable. I have wing tramps I just don't what condition they are in. I'll look in my surplus box tonight.

Thanks! This thread will be the official "mark off the list thread". All donations can be sent to:

Here's a little info about their program:

Quote:
America True is entirely dedicated to providing youth with opportunity to benefit from sailing and its inherent life lessons. We believe that sailing can teach youth valuable life lessons including confidence, independence, strategic thinking, teamwork and respect for the environment. We believe that sailing can, and should be open to all regardless of gender, culture, ethnic, or economic background. We believe that many of those who could benefit most do not currently have access to the sailing experience.

Let us know if you send parts, so we can mark hem off the list. This program is really cool!

I'm shipping the block set with two sheets today, the tramps are not worth the shipping cost. I couldn't get into the cat box last night but I'm sure there's extra hardware I could part with. The pins for the wings you have listed; are you talking about the slugs that go in the cross bar slots, and if so are the included in wing hardware kit? If that's the case I'll have an extra set soon I hope!!

Jeremy,

You've helped me out so much, would be glad to return the favor.

I've recently parted out an old 18 and can offer the following parts:

Trailer: I have a spare trailer I've given to a good friend to replace his older one, should be easy to get his older one back.
Boom: I have a boom, will have to determine how "complete" it is.
Sails: I have two older sets, will examine them closer and can offer one of the two sets. They may need minor fixes (jib zipper comes to mind, is that OK?) Do you need battens or do they have a set?

Will be in touch,

Mike Bennett

To Mike Bennett-
I'd be very interested in whether you have the sails and battens available. I will be working with Jeremy on getting the boom, I think......
Please give me a call, or email......
Thanks,

I have a decent set of sails, no repairs required. Prism pattern, battens included. Would love to help out FSOA (future sailors of America)! The problem is that with the battens, they won't be easy or cheap to ship. I can be contacted at thundley at bak dot rr dot com if interested and we can work out the shipping details.
