While sitting on its trailer, I notice my H18 takes on water in the hulls when it rains. The suspect areas are the lower flange in the dagger board well and the gunwale lip area where the tramp extrusion is riveted to the inboard side of the hull flange. I cannot visibly see any indication along that extrusion where cracks are evident. How common is this area? I know water is not entering through the hull ports. Any other locations that may be suspect? Crossbar mountings? Once the weather breaks, I'll perform the soap suds air pressure test. |

Quote: Any other locations that may be suspect? Crossbar mountings? That is a good possibility. Water will sit in the crossbar saddles and seep into the bolt holes. These holes drilled through the hull lip have been known to have voids at times. The soapy water test will find the leak. |

x-bar saddles front and rear, lower dagger well wouldn't have enough water bead to seep in. Double check the port seals. There is no where else the water could enter due to gravity, and yours is a gravity feed leak. |

yea, I know its a gravity leak, and what confounds me is most of the rainwater hits the tramp and runs off to the sides where they mate with the hulls. even if the ports leaked, they are placed in an area that does not gather a lot of water like the tramp does. beautiful weather today and the weekend. soap test after work today. |

Do you have stiff competition locally? Maybe someone is sabotaging your boat to get an edge. |
