Post subject: | 18SX easy rite system |
I am a new owner of used 18SX and have just purchased the ‘easy rite’ with the internal shock cord. I am wondering how to install this righting system on my 18SX? I believe that I read a post suggesting tying the line from the rudder pins up through the hole on the out board deck flange (where the shock cords for the dagger boards run). However, the righting line is much too thick to run through the hole. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! |

If you have bought the blue/white oversized bungee cord, tie off one end to a rudder pin. Usually, we tie a short piece of 1/8" or 3/16" line to the pin, and tie the line to the bungee, whatever works for you. Run the Bungee forward, on the outside of the hull, to the S/Steel RING that you attach the daggerboard bungee to, then through the dolphin striker post, then to the S/S RING on the other hull, back to the other rudder pin. In this way, you have killed two birds with one stone - you have a righting line, plus you have a chicken line for when you/your crew are out on the wire. Hold the bungee cord with your (rear) hand, and there is less chance that you'll take that 'unexpected journey to the bow' when you hit the wave in front of you. Good winds. |
