Is there a good picture of a properly set up halyard ring\knot assembly for the main sail? I'm trying to keep old flopper style set up, so far it hasn't been to bad, but maybe tweeking my set up would help? |

Sereral well-respected 18 sailors weighed in here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14768&hilit=halyard+knot I added electirical tape over the knot to help further reduce the profile. Also, FWIW, I mentioned using "Sailkote" to help reduce friction when raising the main the other day. It bears mentioning you will need to totally re-apply the spray on both the bolt rope and sail track if you ever dump the boat in the water (like I did the other week - ugh!). But trust me, it makes a world of difference. Good luck! |

How does the rope go thru the ring? |

Remove the flopper. There are several different types of rings out there. The knots may vary a little, but key is getting it as low profile as possible. I use a "Halyard" knot. Small knot in the end of the line (as a keeper... keeps the line end fron slipping through the actual knot) followed by a simple overhand knot around the ring.
